Describe a process change you implemented with operators' input.
Pick a real project, such as reducing changeover time or cutting rework. Explain the baseline, meaning the numbers before you started. Describe how you asked operators for their ideas, walked the floor with them and listened to their pain points. Explain how you tried the change on a small scale first, adjusted it and then rolled it out with training. Share the results, such as a lasting improvement, and how you checked it was sustained.
How would you identify the bottleneck on a production line?
Begin by watching the line and walking it end to end. Measure the cycle time at each station over many cycles, not just once. Look for queues of work waiting in front of a station, since stations that are always busy while the next one waits often show a bottleneck. Check for variation, stops and changeovers that slow flow. Then confirm by testing, for example adding help there and seeing if the whole line output improves, and record the results.
What approvals and evidence precede a production parameter change?
Start by explaining why the change is needed and what could be affected, such as product quality, safety and customer requirements. Run a trial on a small batch and collect data to show it works. Document the change, including old and new settings and the reasons. Get approvals from the right people, such as quality, production and maintenance, and inform operators. Have a clear rollback plan if results go wrong, and monitor output closely after the change.
A defect rate doubles after a process adjustment. What do you do?
First contain the problem. Stop or quarantine affected product and inform the supervisor and quality team. Then compare what changed: settings, materials, tools, operators and times. Check records to confirm the defect began after the adjustment. Investigate the cause with data, using simple tools such as five whys. Consider rolling back to the earlier setting while you investigate. After a fix, test it in a small trial, check defect rates stay down, and update the procedures.
